Technology Depreciation

The Cupertino Union School District (CUSD) is committed to providing our students access to cutting edge instructional technology tools. The use of technology, for the purpose of instruction, provides our students with learning opportunities that extend well beyond the walls of the classroom. For students, use of technology in the classroom is for educational purposes, such as accessing curriculum-related information, sharing resources, and promoting innovation in learning. Learning how to use technology is a vital part of creating exemplary learners with the skills to succeed in the 21st century.

The technology can be used for evernote work from 3rd grade, movies and documentaries from 5th grade, typing club, hour of code, literary writing to math apps and more.

CUSD chose to use ipads as their device of choice. For Faria, the school strongly felt chromebooks were a much better choice. Also, CUSD didn’t provide enough funds to support enough devices to have a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio. FEEF stepped in to fill the need and sponsored chromebooks for many grades over the last few years.

FEEF has budgeted about $15k for technology depreciation, as devices break, or grow obsolete, or the carts that house them need to be replaced, or we need keyboards, etc.
